Investing in People

We identify, encourage, and equip talented leaders to lift the collective prospects of our planet.

People bring powerful ideas to life. Whether in Canada, Sub-Saharan Africa, or beyond, we spot potential and invest in leaders. We provide training and support so that innovative ideas turn into big impact.

EWB supports a community of thousands of passionate leaders in our network of 32 university and eight professional chapters across Canada. Our members collaborate on local and national campaigns and initiatives to tackle issues of poverty and inequality.

Through EWB Fellowship programs, community initiatives, and events, we foster a widespread network of people equipped to create positive change. Together, we ignite change at every level of the system: from advocating for improvements in global policy, to helping smallholder agricultural businesses on the ground in Sub-Saharan Africa.

We believe that a generation of thoughtful leaders taking action is needed to tackle the complex challenges in the 21st century.

We refer to this comprehensive and systemically-focused leadership approach as Systems Change.

EWB leaders working in Sub-Saharan Africa don’t drill wells; we partner with government departments to ensure that tens of thousands of wells are monitored, maintained and servicing communities in the best way possible. Our change-makers don’t distribute seeds; we work with innovative smallholder farmers to provide the tools and insights they need to scale and serve large communities.

We recognize that solving complex challenges require the exchange and sharing of experiences, knowledge, and skills. Long-lasting solutions require collaboration. We empower each other to achieve greater equality and sustainability throughout the planet.

EWB Fellowship

The EWB Fellowship program recruits outstanding leaders—typically post-graduate students and professionals—to pair with innovative African ventures in a 12-month placement.
