David Boroto
Board Member | Chair
David joined EWB in 2014 as a chapter member at the University of Toronto. Born in South Africa to Congolese parents, he is defined by his global outlook and resonates deeply with EWB’s mission, vision and values. Since joining the organization, David has held various roles within his chapter and as an EWB Fellow. He started as a general member in his chapter’s Youth Engagement portfolio and soon became Youth Engagement Lead in his second year, followed by a year as Member Learning Lead before becoming a Chapter President in 2017. David was also an Editor and Contributor to the 2016 EWB Failure Report, and also travelled to Nairobi, Kenya as Junior Fellow in the summer of 2017 where he worked with affordable housing venture Kwangu Kwako. David has also been heavily involved in EWB’s advocacy work, participating in Day of Action 2018 and contributing to EWB’s Hello 2030 Campaign as his chapter’s Policy and Advocacy Lead in 2019.
Most recently, after graduating from the University of Toronto Engineering Science program David completed another fellowship, this time as a Long Term Fellow based in Kampala, Uganda with the mobile technology social enterprise, Viamo. David is excited to bring his experience and passion for the organization to the Board of Directors.
