From Patients to Pupils: What Renewable Energy Makes Possible

Our partners at EWB Zambia recently returned from Kanyena Primary School, where the next Engineering Brighter Tomorrows solar grid will be installed.

Next week, you’ll hear directly from the community about what this project means to them.

In the meantime, we want to continue to reflect on what’s already been achieved at Chimpanje Health Centre, our first installation earlier this year.

Pauline Mwale, Environmental Health Technologist with the Ministry of Health in Nyimba District, spoke about how the solar grid brought dignity and reliability to patient care. Watch Pauline’s message here.

Haswell Kapomba, a Registered Nurse, reflected on how power means safer night deliveries, working equipment, and staff who feel confident staying in rural service. Watch Haswell’s message here.

Their stories show that clean energy doesn’t just switch on the lights. It keeps healthcare workers rooted in their communities and makes care sustainable for years to come. And that’s exactly the kind of transformation we want to bring to Kanyena Primary School, where hundreds of students are waiting to see their classrooms illuminated for the first time and their learning resources enhanced.

The campaign deadline has been extended to September 7th and we’re aiming to raise $25,000 to make Kanyena’s solar grid a reality before year-end. Every gift brings us closer. Every action helps. And yes, every contribution makes a difference. All donors will receive a receipt for your contribution—big or small.

Thank you to everyone who has already given. You’ve helped us build incredible momentum. If you’d like to deepen your impact, consider increasing your gift or share this campaign with family and friends who may also want to help power brighter tomorrows.
