Join Us in Welcoming David Boroto—EWB Canada’s New CEO

David’s appointment comes at a pivotal time for EWB Canada as the organization navigates a changing, and challenging landscape for international development both in Canada and abroad.

Since January 2025, David has served as Interim CEO for EWB Canada, assuming the position after having served 5 years as Chair of EWB’s Board of Directors. David’s experience in the organization spans more than a decade, and includes having been a Chapter President and overseas fellow in Kenya and Uganda.

Beyond EWB, David holds a BASc in Engineering Science from the University of Toronto, and an MPhil in Engineering for Sustainable Development from the University of Cambridge. Previously he has worked in the private sector as an Infrastructure Advisory Consultant at Mott MacDonald, a global engineering consulting firm, and in the development sector as an Infrastructure Analyst with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), the infrastructure and project management arm of the UN.

Interim Chair of the EWB Canada Board Dan Herman notes, “David’s breadth of experience across EWB, his work in the private-sector, and his organic ability to connect and engage with stakeholders make him a perfect fit for EWB Canada.”

For  25 years, EWB has worked to enable systems change that focuses on addressing the root causes of poverty and inequality. At its core, our mission is to invest in people. David is a product of EWB’s investment in people and his selection as CEO confirms this ongoing and lasting impact.

Le conseil d’administration d’Ingénieurs sans frontières (ISF) Canada est heureux d’annoncer la nomination de David Boroto au poste de président-directeur général , avec effet immédiat.

La nomination de David intervient à un point tournant  d’ISF Canada, l’organisation naviguant présentement  dans un contexte de développement international changeant et complexe, tant au Canada qu’à l’étranger.

Depuis janvier 2025, David occupe le poste de président-directeur général  par intérim d’ISF Canada, après avoir présidé le conseil d’administration d’ISF pendant 5 ans. L’expérience de David au sein de l’organisation s’étend sur plus d’une décennie. où David a notamment été président de section et volontaire à l’étranger au Kenya et en Ouganda.

Au-delà d’ISF, David est titulaire d’un BASc en sciences de l’ingénieur de l’Université de Toronto et d’un M.A  en ingénierie pour le développement durable de l’Université de Cambridge. Auparavant, il a travaillé dans le secteur privé en tant que consultant en infrastructure chez Mott MacDonald, une société mondiale de conseil en ingénierie, et dans le secteur du développement en tant qu’analyste en infrastructure au Bureau des Nations Unies pour les services d’appui aux projets (UNOPS), la branche de l’ONU chargée de la gestion des infrastructures et des projets.

Dan Herman, président par intérim du conseil d’administration d’ISF Canada, souligne : « La vaste expérience de David au sein d’ISF, son travail dans le secteur privé et sa capacité à nouer des liens et à dialoguer avec les parties prenantes font de lui le candidat idéal pour ISF Canada. »

Le conseil d’administration est ravi que David dirige l’organisation en cette période à la fois riche en défis et en opportunités. Depuis près de 25 ans, ISF Å“uvre pour un changement systémique axé sur la lutte contre les causes profondes de la pauvreté et de l’inégalité. Au coeur de cette approche se trouve l’investissement interpersonnel et  David est un produit de cette croyance fondamentale  d’ISF dans le développement d’autrui; la nomination de David au poste de PDG confirme cet impact continu et durable.
