2023 EWB Fellows

Applications Open: SCEC & GIF (Deadline March 16)

We have huge news! Applications are now open for two national EWB Canada programs focused on strengthening your ability to lead systems change: the Systems Change Engineering Certification (SCEC) and the Global Innovation Fellowship (GIF).

These programs are designed for student leaders who want structured learning, mentorship, and practical experience beyond the traditional classroom. Both programs accept individual and team applications, depending on how you want to engage.

Systems Change Engineering Certification (SCEC)

The Systems Change Engineering Certification supports chapter members in developing practical systems-thinking competencies that are often missing from traditional engineering education.

Through guided workshops, applied learning, and structured reflection, participants will:

  • Build foundational systems change competencies
  • Strengthen equity-informed and stakeholder-centered analysis
  • Develop tools for navigating complex social, technical, and institutional systems
  • Apply systems thinking to real-world challenges

This certification is intended for students who are ready to deepen their leadership practice and engage meaningfully in systems-level problem solving. Eligibility criteria and program expectations are outlined on our website. Please review them carefully before applying.

  • Engage in collaborative innovation processes
  • Strengthen leadership and project development skills
  • Work across disciplines and geographies
  • Develop ideas in partnership with peers

GIF is ideal for students interested in innovation, partnership, and applied leadership in global contexts. As with SCEC, eligibility criteria and participation commitments are detailed on our website and should be reviewed prior to applying.
