Your Gift. Ackim’s Expertise. One Bright Future.

In eastern Zambia’s Nyimba District, the Chimpanje Rural Health Centre has become a place where reliable power is no longer aspirational — it’s reality.

Ackim Mbewe, Electrical Engineer with expertise in renewable energy, hydropower construction and maintenance, and Volunteer Energy Expert at EWB Zambia, played a key role in making that happen.

His perspective speaks to what Engineering Brighter Tomorrows is really about: not just technology, but community-led systems that last for decades.

Why Rural Infrastructure Matters

In rural areas, electricity isn’t just about turning on lights — it’s the foundation of infrastructure that makes education, healthcare, and local economies thrive. Without it, students can’t access around-the-clock technology, health workers can’t reliably use vital medical equipment, and clean water can be out of reach.

That’s why this initiative exists. It’s about partnership-driven, sustainable change: systems designed with the community, built to last, and aligned with larger efforts like Mission 300 — the vision to bring renewable power to 300 million people across Sub-Saharan Africa by 2030.

This shared vision for sustainable, community-led solutions makes our work part of a larger movement toward lasting change.

The Goal: One More System by Year-End

Earlier this year, the 12kW solar mini-grid at Chimpanje transformed a health centre’s ability to serve its community — and it’s only the beginning.

The team is ready to deliver the next solar system by the end of 2025, but we can’t do it without you. To get there, we need to raise $25,000 by August 31. Every dollar moves us closer to a future where more communities can power their schools, health centres, and local innovation — on their own terms.

When you give, you’re helping create the conditions for change that communities can carry forward for decades — change that sparks progress long after the first light is switched on.
