The Next Solar Grid Installation Site Is Set!

We’re excited to announce that the next solar grid installation for Engineering Brighter Tomorrows is set: Kanyena Primary School in Zambia.

Kanyena Primary is home to 350 students. The school has running water—but no electricity. That means no evening study, restrictive digital learning, and limited teaching resources. With renewable solar energy, that picture changes entirely.

This initiative is about more than installing solar panels. It’s about building systems that last—powered by local expertise. Together with our partners at EWB Zambia, local teachers, and community leaders, our volunteers contribute their skills to ensure each system is built to serve the community for decades to come.

Hear from the volunteers themselves:

Meet Matthew Huestis, P.Eng. – a mechanical engineer with 20+ years of experience, sharing why he’s volunteering to help make Kanyena’s installation possible.

Meet Robert van Duynhoven, P.Eng. – a seasoned engineer and executive, speaking to why this work matters for both education and healthcare.

Both Matthew and Robert remind us that while volunteers bring technical expertise, it’s the partnership with local leadership that ensures lasting impact.

Our goal: raise $25,000 by August 31st to bring solar power to Kanyena Primary. Every contribution makes a difference(NOTE: All contributions receive a receipt for your donation—big or small!)

Together, we can help illuminate Kanyena’s classrooms—ensuring students now, and for generations to come, have the power to learn, grow, and thrive.
