By turning waste into wares, Teefe Plastics is helping both the local economy and the environment.

In 2012, Christina and Robert Mawanda had an ambitious goal: to triple production at their recycling plant in Kampala, Uganda. Their company, Teefe Plastics, is a classic “triple bottom line” enterprise: by turning waste into wares for local merchants, they’re helping both the local economy and the environment.
Christine and Robert went to Mango Fund, an EWB partner, to finance new equipment to ramp up production. Three years later, it’s been a roaring success, and they’ve gone back to Mango Fund to finance another boost in their output!

En 2012, Christina et Robert Mawanda avaient un objectif ambitieux: tripler leur production à leur usine de recyclage à Kampala, en Ouganda. Leur compagnie, Teefe Plastics, est une entreprise ayant une “triple approche” classique: en transformant des déchets en marchandises pour les marchands et marchandes du coin, ils aident à la fois l’économie locale et l’environnement.
Christine et Robert ont demandé à Mango Fund, une initiative d’ISF, de financer du nouvel équipement afin de grossir la production. Trois ans plus tard, c’est un succès monstre et ils sont même retournés voir Mango Fund pour financer une autre expansion de leur production!
