Powering Classrooms, Empowering Futures: Let’s Finish Strong
Over the past few weeks, you’ve heard directly from the people at the heart of Engineering Brighter Tomorrows.
Ackim Mbewe, a volunteer energy expert with EWB Zambia, spoke about the role engineers can play in delivering clean energy to rural communities.
Pauline Mwale, an Environmental Health Technologist, shared how the solar grid at Chimphanje has already strengthened healthcare: making night deliveries safer, powering fridges for vaccines, and improving daily care.
Haswell Kapomba, a registered nurse, reminded us how reliable power helps staff stay in rural service and provide better care for patients.
Matthew Huestis and Robert van Duynhoven, two dedicated volunteer engineers from Canada, showed how global partnerships drive this work forward.
And most recently, Andrew Tembo and Simon Phiri, teachers at Kanyena Primary, described what reliable power would mean for their school: illuminated classrooms, working computers, and hundreds of students finally able to thrive in a digital world.
Together, these voices tell a bigger story: this isn’t just about electricity. It’s about building long-term systems that empower local leadership, strengthen healthcare, and open doors for the next generation of learners.
Now, with just a few days left, I want to thank everyone who has already given and invite you to help us cross the finish line. Our goal is to raise $25,000 by September 7th so we can install Kanyena’s solar mini-grid before year-end.
Every contribution makes a difference.
This campaign has always been about partnership. Together with EWB Zambia, local teachers, health workers, and engineers, we’re showing what’s possible when communities and supporters like you unite for systems change.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Let’s finish strong, and light up Kanyena.
