Inside Kanyena Primary: 416 Students, 60 Staff, No Electricity Yet
We’ve got five days to make something remarkable happen at Kanyena!
Today, we’re excited to share your first look inside Kanyena Primary School: the next solar mini-grid site for Engineering Brighter Tomorrows.
Watch this video message and meet Andrew Tembo, the Head Teacher of Kanyena Primary. With 416 students and more than 60 staff, the school is full of energy and potential. But without electricity, that potential is held back. Five computers sit unused. Science lessons stop at theory, with students missing the practical examples that make learning come alive.
Andrew points to Chimphanje Health Centre, where we installed our first solar grid, as proof of what’s possible. There, reliable energy means teachers can show real-world science in action, and students are beginning to connect classroom lessons to everyday life.
That’s what Andrew dreams of for his school: illuminated classrooms, working computers, and hundreds of students ready to thrive in a digital world.
Our campaign goal is to raise $25,000 to make this solar grid a reality before year-end. Every gift brings us closer. Every action helps. And every contribution makes a difference—you’ll receive a receipt for your donation, big or small.
Together, through Engineering Brighter Tomorrows, we’re building systems that last: clean, reliable energy that strengthens health and education for generations.
Thank you to everyone who has already stepped up. If you’re able, please consider increasing your gift or sharing this campaign with someone who would love to be part of creating change.
