SDG 5
Gender Equality

Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls

Around the world, millions of people are denied education, healthcare and employment, and their human rights are routinely violated, simply because of their gender identity.

In Canada, 1 in 2 women have experienced physical or sexual violence, 1.5 million women live on low income, and women are paid on average just 74 cents for every dollar paid to men for doing the same work (women of colour are paid even less).

Around the world, transgender persons face some of the highest levels of persecution and violence.

Men and boys must also grapple with toxic masculinities and limiting social norms.

Gender inequality holds everyone back, so let’s build a more gender equal, equitable and just world by 2030.
