About Sprout Insure

Sprout Insure is an Insurtech startup that provides a platform to protect small-scale farmers from climate change risk by facilitating insurance contracts on blockchain. Less than 3% of small-scale farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa have access to insurance. Meanwhile, climate change is increasingly exposing farmers to extreme weather. Sprout makes insurance attractive and affordable with an automated solution that works with insurance companies. Sprout is a spin-off of Annona, a social enterprise that has a wealth of experience working in global food trade from East Africa to Europe. Sprout Insure believes that blockchain can increase trust and reduce transaction costs, making financial products affordable for farmers and profitable for service providers.

In partnership with Sprout Insure, as a Fellow with Engineers Without Borders Canada (EWB Canada), you will be placed with Sprout Insure to work with their team in Kenya. Throughout your Fellowship with EWB, you will receive guidance, mentorship and financial support from the community in Canada and in East and West Africa.
