Charisma Jonathan
Charisma Jonathan is a fourth-year civil engineering student at the University of Alberta and the President of the EWB UAlberta chapter. She is passionate about using engineering to create meaningful impact beyond the classroom, particularly through sustainable infrastructure and community-focused solutions.
She was drawn to SCEC after attending the EWB xChange Conference in January, where the idea of systems change stood out to me as a “domino effect”—small, well-informed actions leading to broader, lasting impact. This perspective motivated me to better understand how engineers can contribute to long-term change by addressing root causes rather than just symptoms.
Outside of academics, she enjoys playing soccer and boxing, and she actively volunteers with non-profit organizations. I am driven to explore how civil engineering can better serve communities and how she can contribute as a student.
