Preet Bains

Preet Bains is a third-year Mechatronics Systems Engineering student at Simon Fraser University with interests in systems change, sustainable infrastructure, and engineering leadership. He currently serves as Co-President of Engineers Without Borders SFU, where he helps lead initiatives focused on community engagement, technical projects, and student collaboration. Through his involvement with EWB, Preet has become passionate about exploring how engineering, policy, and entrepreneurship can work together to create more equitable and practical solutions.

He was drawn to SCEC and GIF because of their emphasis on understanding complex global challenges beyond purely technical perspectives. Outside of academics, Preet enjoys traveling, organizing student initiatives, and exploring ways technology can create meaningful impact in communities.
