Abby McGillis
Dalhousie University, Chemical Engineering
Hi, my name is Abby McGillis, and I’m a third-year Chemical Engineering student at Dalhousie University involved in applied research, student leadership, and athletics. I just finished a 4-month part-time contract at the Centre for Water Resource Studies, where I was a research assistant on a project focusing on wastewater treatment technology, and I have previous research experience in catalytic chemistry. Outside of academics, I’m a member of the Dalhousie Women’s Rugby Team, a peer mentor for engineering students, and involved in the Dalhousie Women in Engineering Society. I’m excited for SCEC as it provides the opportunity for me to build knowledge about systemic change in an applied engineering context, allowing me to apply it to current EWB projects and to my future professional career.
