Christopher Evans, Deputy Director of Energy Transition & Finance, Environment and Climate Change Canada

Christopher Evans is Deputy Director of Energy Transition and Finance at Environment and Climate Change Canada. He is responsible for aligning and strengthening Canada’s international efforts on climate, energy, and finance in the global transition to clean energy and in meeting the climate change goals of the Paris Agreement. In this role, Chris is responsible for guiding Canada’s co-leadership with the United Kingdom of the Powering Past Coal Alliance, a coalition of over 120 government and industry members working in partnership with civil society to accelerate the global phase-out of emissions from coal power generation. Chris has over 15 years of experience in climate and energy issues, working across industry, academic, advocacy, and government organizations. He was co-founder of the University of Manitoba’s Engineers Without Borders chapter in 2002, and has held executive positions in the Calgary Professional Chapter. Chris is a licensed professional engineer in the Province of Manitoba.
