Development Finance Institute: Pushing for progress and meeting milestones
Through our recommendations and outreach, EWB helped shape the operations of Canada’s new Development Finance Institution (DFI), FinDev Canada. Thanks to our partnership with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, hundreds of passionate and ambitious young leaders across Canada asked for a DFI that would invest in small and medium enterprises, particularly those led by women, to increase access to finance for some of the world’s most vulnerable people. Staff, chapter members, and volunteers met with Members of Parliament across Canada and received a positive response from both the Minister of International Trade, François-Philippe Champagne, and the Minister of International Development and La Francophonie, Marie-Claude Bibeau.
