Thank you for joining us for the 2026 Global Innovation Fellowship Closing Pitch Session earlier this month and for being there to support this year’s fellows!
| Over 14 weeks, fellows from Canada and Zambia worked across borders and alongside communities in Zambia’s Eastern Province to better understand real challenges connected to rural energy access and develop ideas shaped by what they heard and learned along the way. On September 3, the closing pitches brought that work together, with five teams sharing the solutions they developed. We’re incredibly proud of this cohort, and we hope every fellow walked away feeling proud of what they accomplished together. Congratulations, Intellert!After five strong pitches and a very close round of judging, Intellert was selected as the winning pitch for its smart monitoring solution for rural vaccine clinics. As the winning team, Canadian members of Intellert will have the opportunity to travel to Zambia to continue exploring and developing their solution on the ground. |

| And while Intellert gets a well-deserved congratulations, this isn’t the end of the road for any of the teams. Each leaves the fellowship with an idea to keep testing, challenging and building, with EWB Canada exploring opportunities to help some of that work continue. A big thank you as well to our judges, Simunza Muyangana of BongoHive, Mwansa Chalo of Duniya Healthcare and Rob Ironside of the League of Innovators, for giving their time, asking thoughtful questions and sharing their expertise with the fellows. What’s next?Another Global Innovation Fellowship cohort is on the horizon, with recruitment opening soon. We can’t wait to see who joins us next. And this January, that same spirit of collaboration continues at xChange 2027: Shared Challenges, Collective Action, January 15–16 in Ottawa. |
