Investment Team

The Investment team is charged with sourcing, reviewing, structuring and making investments in ventures that are well-aligned with EWB’s mission.

They are also responsible for partnering with these select ventures to help them grow and access later-stage capital in their pursuit to achieve scale and positively impact the lives of millions.

  • Investment Director

    • 10 years finance and investment experience in sub-Saharan Africa and Europe, ranging from Investment Banking to financial inclusion for MSMEs
    • Hands-on experience building start-ups; doing turn-around of
      non-performing businesses and providing governance and technical
      support
    • Sector expertise in financial services and agriculture
    • An EA citizen who’s lived in Kenya for the last 7 years and is well connected with the region’s investment community
    • 2017 Acumen Fellow
    • CFA Charterholder and BSc. Actuarial Science from Cass Business School, London
  • Impact Evaluation and Learning Manager

    • Seven years’ experience in evaluation working for diverse organizations such as Innovations for Poverty Action; Wisconsin Department of Health; and University of Wisconsin Extension
    • Founder of Robinson Evaluation Consulting
    • Holds two Master of Science degrees from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in Agricultural and Applied Economics, and in Agroecology
    • Active member of the American Evaluation Association and Social Impact Measurement Topical Interest Group. 2013 EWB Long-Term Fellow with the Agricultural Extension Team

     

  • West Africa Portfolio Associate and Legal Officer

    • Experience in business/legal advisory services and capacity building for SMEs
    •  Formerly practicing as a commercial litigation lawyer
    •  Barred in Québec, and holds a Bachelor of Civil Law and a Bachelor of Laws from McGill University
    •  Speaks French, English, Spanish and Romanian
  • East Africa Portfolio Associate

    • Over five years in the social entrepreneurship and impact investing field, with a focus on Sub-Saharan Africa
    • Peace Corps Volunteer in Rwanda from 2012 to 2014
    • Has consulted on strategy for various venture incubation and training programs, foundations, businesses, and non-profits
    • Holds an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley – Haas School of Business
  • Investment Officer

    • Experience working with early and growth stage entrepreneurs in fintech, cleantech and health innovation
    • 5+ years experience in programme management and fundraising
    • Master of Global Affairs from the University of Toronto’s Munk School, Bachelor of Arts from Wilfrid Laurier University
    • Interested in the intersection of innovation, development, and gender equity
