Aatif Baskanderi is a Newfoundlander who received both his electrical engineering bachelor & innovation management master degrees at Memorial University, and a social policy & international development MSc degree at the London School of Economics & Political Science. He has worked and volunteered his time with various engineering, government, and not-for-profit organizations across Canada, UK, and Sierra Leone. Aatif has been sporadically active with EWB for over 10 years in several city chapter leadership roles around the country, as well as working on the UN Sustainable Development Goals through various means. Aatif currently works as an innovation portfolio manager at a global power company based out of Calgary, Canada, along with working on his film about social inclusion and community development, “Salaam B’y – A Story of a Muslim Newfoundlander”. Aatif brings experience in innovation management, entrepreneurship, and social justice coupled with his passion for the potential of society for positive change through collaboration with a relentless pragmatic optimism.
