About Alex

Hailing from Ontario and Québec, Alex has a longstanding history with EWB: she founded the EWB-McGill University Chapter, was co-Chair of the inaugural EWB National Conference, and was EWB's first Volunteer of the Year. After gaining her MSc in Environmental Management and PhD in Geography from the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar, Alex returned to Canada as a senior policy analyst at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. Among other responsibilities, Alex represented Canada as a climate change negotiator on agriculture and food security issues at the United Nations climate change negotiations. In 2013, she returned to her roots, rejoining EWB as VP of Operations. She is thrilled to be back! Alex also holds a BEng in Mechanical Engineering from McGill University.

Why are you here?

Alex believes in a world where everyone has access to social justice. This includes access to the social, environmental, and economic resources we all need to live a meaningful life. In this regard, she found EWB to be the most innovative organization she has come across. She believes that EWB and its leaders understand the enormous challenges at hand - in all of the complexity.

“EWB is breaking boundaries to create the systems change that can bring about a just world.”
