EWB CEOs Named Top 40 Under 40

George Roter & Paker Mitchell

George Roter and Parker Mitchell, the founders and co-CEOs of EWB, have been named along with top Canadian entrepreneurs and business leaders, as among the Top 40 Under 40 in the country.

George and Parker, both 28, started EWB in 2000 with the belief that Canadian engineers could make a difference in the developing world by creating access to technologies that address the diverse needs of the world's most impoverished populations. Over the past five years they have worked hard to expand EWB operations - successfully marked by more than 10,000 members, $1,000,000 raised last year alone, and later this month, the 140th EWB volunteer to go overseas.

Though both were honored to receive the award, George believes that it is a reflection of not just his and Parker's dedication, but rather that of the entire organization. "This award is about the hundreds of volunteers who have gone overseas and the thousands of volunteers in Canada who have helped EWB achieve this level of success.   It is a recognition of our past accomplishments and an opportunity to continue forward in achieving the goals set for EWB."

The win affirms not only that Canadians are taking note of EWB, but more importantly that they recognize the urgent need for development and the potential contributions that they can make.
